Reduced energy bills with solar PV
Did you know that your home has the potential to generate a large proportion of the electricity you use every day just by virtue of its generous roof area? Installing a solar PV (photovoltaic) system allows you to capture the energy that's present all around us during the day, and turn it into valuable electricity for your home.
ARC is a leading supplier and installer of high quality solar PV systems. We have many years of experience in installing efficient systems that make the most of your available roof space and location. All of our solar products come with a 12 year guarantee, which means that when you order with us, you're buying not just clean energy, but peace of mind.
How do I know if my home is suitable?
While the vast majority of homes in the UK are suitable for solar PV systems, their efficiency and installation requirements will vary according to the shape, type and orientation of your roof. Thatched roofing poses the biggest obstacle to installation, but other kinds of roof are generally straightforward. If you're unsure about the suitability of your home, one of our expert team members will be happy to discuss your requirements.
Where will the solar panels be installed?
Domestic solar panels will be installed on the roof of your home. Because you're in the Northern hemisphere, a South-facing roof offers the best efficiency for a solar energy system, but an East-West split roof is by no means a deal-breaker. Solar panels installed on East-West split roofs will achieve approximately 85% efficiency compared to a South facing roof, so it's still a viable investment and energy source for your home.
Other factors to be considered are the slope of your roof, and whether or not it's overshadowed by trees or another building. A prominent slope is best, and shadowing can seriously affect the efficiency of your solar panels.
Here at ARC, our experienced and professional installation team will plan your solar installation according to the orientation of your roof space, ensuring that maximum possible efficiency is achieved for the position of your property.
Is the location of my home suitable for solar PV?
Despite popular belief to the contrary, a solar PV system does not require high levels of direct sunlight, and will operate very well in cloudy conditions. This means that energy efficiency varies very little regardless of where you are in the UK, including rural and urban settings. The main factors you will need to consider before making a purchase are the presence of any trees, buildings or other obstructions that may cast a shadow over your South-facing roof space.
Save money - and the environment
The chances are that your home is not only suitable, but stands to benefit substantially from a solar installation. You'll enjoy reduced energy bills, and you'll actually receive money for the energy you produce. A quality solar installation from ARC will also increase the value of your property.
